About

Edition Bløndal has been publishing art books since 1985, particularly on the Nordic art, and in 1998 began publishing architecture. Utzon. Inspiration Vision Architecture was released in 2002 and, to promote a full understanding of the humanity and attention to craft that is evident throughout Jørn Utzon's work, the Jørn Utzon Logbook series has been introduced. These books, with Utzon himself as editor-in-chief, document major projects in comprehensive detail; similar volumes on other important Nordic architects are planned.
Jørn Utzon. Inspiration Vision Architecture was acclaimed by reviewers worldwide as an outstanding publishing achievement.

"Richard Weston's new monograph is therefore the first substantive study - and very probably the definitive study, because it is hard to see how it might be bettered." ... "Beautifully written, elegantly designed and impeccably produced."
Review for RIBA Bookshops by David Jenkins, Project Director, Foster and Partners.

"Richard Weston's monograph on Jorn Utzon may sound expensive, but this impressive publication should be at the top of every architect's Christmas list."
Review for Prospect - Mark Cousins

"The books one tends to remember, of course, are the unusual one. The truly brilliant exploitations of the system like Koolhaas productions. Or the truly heroic struggles through it, like Richard Weston's straightforward, hugely expensive, classic book on Jørn Utzon: a Herculean achievement whose classy bookiness camouflages how unusual such high researched, beautifully illustrated and designed books actually are.
But the mainstream is made up of books one hardly notices: the endless books on architecture now, or on house designs."

Jørn Utzon logbook series volume I - VI. Editorial board; Jørn Utzon, Richard Weston Cardiff School of Architecture, Cardiff University, Wales & Torsten Bløndal.

The critical reception for the first volumes of the Utzon Logbooks has been similarly enthusiastic, reviews welcoming the uniquely detailed insights the offer; and more issues are planned.

"After Edition Bløndal published the great book on Utzon’s entire oeuvre in 2002, the "world" has seen that Jørn Utzon stands for more than the Sydney Opera House, and many are those who are rushing to publish his works. Several publications, of varying quality, have already been published. But it is only Edition Bløndal that has had access to Jørn Utzon - on account of the publisher’s sensitive understanding of his works and the high quality the publisher demands of the printer’s art."

"The log book series is based on Jørn Utzon’s own archives and his direct participation in the editing, something that guarantees an authentic presentation of his architecture."
- Review for Norsk Byggekunst, Helge Hjertholm
